It’s hardly as if the fashion crowd need an excuse to get dressed up, but where better than the haute couture shows to get the fabulous fur out. From couture clients to the fashion press, Paris was aflutter with statement fur coats this week – including Diane Von Furstenberg in an amazing grid-pattern jacket adorned with a sumptuous silver and pale orange fox collar.
So what did showgoers opt for? Glamorous longhaired fox, natural as well as dyed, was everywhere, and the look was ‘go large or go home’. Gucci’s intarsia mink also made several appearances, as did sleek brown or black mink, like Olivia Palermo in an elegant sculpted mink puffer.
It’s near impossible to pick favourites, but Veronika Heilbrunner, the former style editor at Harper’s Bazaar and now creative director at Hey Woman, clocked up some serious fur mileage: she was spotted in Ellery’s bubblegum pink fox jacket, in a fantastic Fendi intarsia fox coat, a brown mink coat and in Christopher Kane’s directional Saga Furs Frost Fox and Palomino Mink coat.
